Local Instance MediaWiki

Posted on August 9, 2026August 9, 2026 by aschenbach

Just like the last post, creating a local instance of mediawiki isnt all that difficult on windows, its just that you need the right tools along with a solid understanding of how apache + mariadb + php. WIth mediawiki, i found to get this going quite a bit more Challenging since it had changed quite drastically the last time i had installed it on a personal machine. I am still a bit confused as to how to install additional plugins to make a local instance of mediawiki quite fancy. i believed it has to do with something using git to obtain the additional plugins or addons.
